It’s All Coming Together

Today marked the beginning of teaching in the new Conservatory building. I got my office (partly) set up, am getting to know the building, photocopied exams for the exams on Thursday, and in general am getting more and more comfortable with the new building.

Oh, little things — probably the most troublesome right now is that we don’t have key cards; apparently there has been some problem or delay with them. As a result we can’t get into places easily that we need to get into, and I have to leave my office door ajar so I can get in tomorrow and the day after. I’m sure that will be fixed before too long; it’s a pretty big issue.

There will be other little woes; for some reason the classrooms don’t have staff lines on the whiteboards so we have to deal with that in some way or another. Difficult to deal with when we’re teaching theory & musicianship classes; needs addressing.

My keyboard lab is coming together, but is still somewhat hamstrung by the lack of some of the equipment necessary. I am also hamstrung a bit by my inability to go into the room whenever I need to, due to the lack of said key card.

But on the whole it’s just fine. And I’m feeling pretty tired today…
