Moi in Prose

A few more items from my fevered pen/wordprocessor have reached the Internet. They are:

A program note on Bruckner’s Symphony No. 6, to be performed this coming week with that fine musician Herbert Blomstedt at the helm of the SFS.

Extracts from my (super-short) liner notes on the SFS “Keeping Score Companions” CD series, available from the SF Symphony store. My brief liner notes become here even briefer, but the compression has been handled beautifully. I suppose they’re blurbs as a result, but I can’t keep from feeling that they’re pretty doggone dandy blurbs.

The “full” liner notes can be found on the pages for each individual CD: http://www.shopsfsymphony.org/shop/home.php?cat=83.

I’m currently working on a set of program notes for the forthcoming SF Symphony Chorus concert on April 11. In the process I’m learning gobs about Swedish choral music—my previous knowledge of same being almost nil. That’s a fringe benefit of writing music commentary; I get to learn about (and hear) music I probably wouldn’t have encountered otherwise.
